The Legend of the Love Knot

It is said that a long time ago, in a forest where the wind spoke to the oaks and the rivers sang, two young Celts fell madly in love.
But fate wanted them divided: he belonged to a northern clan, she to a southern one, and their families had been fighting for generations.

Every night, the two met in secret at the foot of a sacred oak tree, weaving blades of grass and roots together, creating designs that had no beginning or end.
Those knots, so perfect and infinite, became the symbol of their eternal love, capable of resisting time, war, and even death.

It is said that the Gods, moved by the strength of their bond, transformed those drawings into sacred knots and offered them to men as talismans.
Since then, the knot of love has held the promise of an indissoluble union: two souls that seek each other, intertwine, and never separate again.

MEANING:

  • Eternity : its main characteristic is that it has neither beginning nor end, therefore it represents eternal love, boundless friendship and the spiritual bond that goes beyond earthly life.
  • Protection: Many Celtic warriors wore knots engraved on their weapons or shields as a symbol of strength and divine defense.

HISTORY:

Celtic knots are believed to date back to at least the 5th century AD, appearing in medieval manuscripts such as the famous Book of Kells, stone carvings, and the decorations of Druidic temples.

CURIOSITY:

In ancient Celtic churches, knots were carved into stones to bless and protect sacred places.
