Tree of Life
This symbol is one of the oldest and most universal in human history: it appears in cultures, religions, and philosophies from every part of the world.
It represents the connection between all forms of life, the balance between heaven and earth, the cycle of nature and the spiritual growth of human beings.
HISTORY
In Mesopotamia the first symbols appear in Assyrian and Babylonian bas-reliefs, such as a sacred tree at the centre of the universe.
In Egypt, the tree of life was associated with Isis and Osiris, a symbol of rebirth after death.
In Celtic culture, the tree was sacred to the Druids: it represented the bridge between the earthly and spiritual worlds.
For Jewish Kabbalah, the tree (Etz Chaim) describes the structure of the universe and the spiritual path to divinity.
For Northern European cultures , Yggdrasil, the cosmic ash, connects the nine worlds and represents the order of the Cosmos.
